Grilled Maple Salmon

Serves 4

Ingredients

  • 4 pieces Salmon (skin on or off)
  • Olive Oil
  • Mean Moe’s BBQ Original Badass Rub
  • Maple Syrup

I like to use individual serving size pieces of salmon, as I find it easier to flip on the BBQ. Also, you can do this recipe with skin on or off.  It’s your preference.

Place salmon skin down and brush fish with olive oil. Sprinkle enough Mean Moe’s Original Badass Rub to cover fish.  Let rub stand for 5 minutes until rub sweats into salmon. Flip and repeat process if you are using skinless salmon only.

Prep grill to medium heat, season grill with olive oil so fish does not stick to grill.

Place salmon skin side down on grill. For 4 minutes. Flip salmon and cook for additional 2 minutes. Flip back so skin is down and brush salmon with maple syrup. Remove from grill 1-2minutes later or once salmon is cooked.

PitMaster Tip: The easiest way to see if your salmon has finished cooking is to gently press down on the top of the fillet with a fork or your finger. If the flesh of the salmon flakes—meaning, it separates easily along the white lines that run across the fillet (strips of fish fat)—it’s finished cooking. Take it off of the heat! Do it! Now!

PitMaster Tip: You can also do this recipe on a cedar plank. Soak Cedar plank for minimum 1 hour.  With this method, do not flip salmon, brush with maple syrup for the last 3-4 minutes of cooking.
